We The People of The United States of America should base politician salary on merit. I'm pretty sure many of you are sick of hearing "deficit this, budget cut that, unemployment rate up". I know I am, and we can't all point the finger at the President either because it all starts at the local level. We are paying politicians out of our taxes to raise our taxes, create new laws for the Police Department we fund out of tax dollars to fine us for, and approving their own raises. Can anyone really tell me what exactly your tax dollars were spent on? I highly doubt it, because the government doesn't work that way. Don't get me wrong, I still love this country. But we need to get our priorities straight. We need to stop over paying our government officials to screw us up! The people should have a vote on politician's raises based on how well he or she has done in office. Do any of us get a raise if we do a horrible job, not at all. We'll find ourselves in that unemployment bracket. This isn't a Republican or Democrat thing, this is an American thing.
